Though Harrison Ford will reprise his iconic Rick Deckard role in Denis Villeneuve's upcoming sci-fi flick, the early word on the movie suggests he has a fairly small supporting role, and it's quite possible it'll largely serve as a passing of the torch, with Ryan Gosling's K becoming the protagonist in a new possible franchise.

The original 1982 movie was hardly a box office hit, but there will certainly be hope from the studio that Villeneuve can make a movie that satisfies fans of the original while also having a broader appeal.

Also, don't be surprised if the film follows in the footsteps of Star Wars: The Force Awakens by loosely remaking the core elements of the original, while throwing in enough new material to essentially make it a soft reboot.
