10 Upcoming Movie Sequels That Really Aren't Wanted

5. The Expendables 4

Face Off
Lionsgate

The first Expendables movie hit cinemas in 2010, bringing together a who's who of action stars for a brainless, but pretty fun romp. Audiences seemed to like it, and it was successful enough to get a sequel in 2012, and another sequel in 2014.

Unfortunately though, The Expendables 3 was a complete disaster for Lionsgate. Three weeks before its premiere, the movie was leaked online, leading to the studio pursuing legal action against torrent sites. This leak - coupled with the movie's PG-13 rating, which didn't allow for the hardcore violence that fans wanted to see - caused it to underperform at the box-office, and interest in the series quickly waned.

However, a fourth instalment is still in development, according to Jeffrey Greenstein, head of production company Millennium Media.

Why It Isn't Wanted

The Expendables started off as this really great idea to put a bunch of iconic action stars in the same movie together. Sylvester Stallone, Bruce Willis, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Dolph Lundgren... seeing all of these guys kick ass together was a joy to behold at first, but over a decade later, the novelty has just worn off.

And let's face it, that's all The Expendables was ever trying to be - a novelty - and now that the series has played that hand multiple times, there isn't much else to look forward to. It's not like the first three movies had compelling narratives or anything!
