Why You Should Watch It: Because it looks like a major return to form for Tim Burton, the CGI Dumbo looks almost unbearably adorable, and between Burton, Danny DeVito and Michael Keaton, it's one hell of a weird Batman Returns reunion.

Why You'll Actually Watch It: So you can complain about it not being as good as the classic animated original.

Fans took the same predictable, played-out tack with the live-action Beauty and the Beast last year, and you can practically sense the smugness irradiating from the hardcore Disney lot already.

It's an especially bizarre strategy as the animated Dumbo has its share of problematic elements when viewed today - the racist crows for one - which will presumably be thoroughly ironed out in this contemporary take.

Nobody's saying Burton's movie will be the definitive Dumbo film or any kind of masterpiece, but there's the distinct feeling that a lot of chest-thumping Disney fans are chomping at the bit for it to fail spectacularly.
