8. Fifty Shades Of Grey (Release: 1 August 2014)
It's easy to see why a movie based on an erotic novel would have such a hullabaloo surrounding it. For one, it's sex. For another, it's already creating ripples owing to the dropping out of lead heartthrob Charlie Hunnam. And then there are those fanboys who've read the book a double-digit number of times. Upon taking the aforementioned reasons individually, it becomes apparent as to why the movie's been generating such interest. Though most of us wouldn't like to admit it, there is a certain degree of casual curiosity/sexual interest/guilty pleasure that would drive us to view a movie that displays man's sexual desire in the most primal form involving bondage, submission and sadomasochism. At level two, there's the chemistry between the protagonists (regardless of who they are), who, beyond a doubt, are going to look like Greek gods and goddesses personified and will attract audiences to the screens like bees to nectar. And most importantly, there's the book that has sold over seventy million copies around the world, thus becoming the world's fastest selling paperback by surpassing the record set by Harry Potter. While I can never forgive the series for doing that to the Boy Who Lived, we have to admit that with the hype surrounding this film, it might just even outdo the book.
