10 Upcoming Movies That Are Already Doomed
6. Masters of the Universe
Much as He-Man is an undeniably iconic property, one has to question the logic of spending an alleged $200 million on a live-action big-screen reboot.
More to the point, Masters of the Universe is a He-Man reboot that doesn't even take place on his home planet of Eternia, instead shifting the action to Earth - a choice that's ruffled the feathers of many fans before they've even seen a single frame of footage.
Beyond that, leaked set photos seem to suggest that it's veering away sharply from the aesthetics and tone of the source material, and then there's the highly questionable decision to cast Jared Leto - who, in addition to being offputtingly weird to many, is facing sexual misconduct allegations from numerous women - as villain Skeletor.
Even though director Travis Knight (Bumblebee) is a solid filmmaker, there's little reason to expect anything but a pure mess here, and even if it's somehow good, it's highly unlikely to make enough money to justify that eye-wateringly huge budget.
Given that it's deviating from the source material and He-Man has no relevance at all to younger audiences, this one feels dead on arrival.
