10 Upcoming Movies That Are Already Doomed

7. Basic Instinct Reboot

Earlier this summer it was announced that a reboot of hit Sharon Stone-starring erotic thriller Basic Instinct was in the works, with original writer Joe Eszterhas returning to pen the script.

And even if bringing a now-80-year-old Eszterhas back to write a contemporary Basic Instinct doesn't give you a moment for pause, his own summation of what the reboot will be just might.

For one, the script won't simply be about serial killers but will have a "demonic element" to it, implying a supernatural twist - the exact thing just about nobody asked for in a new Basic Instinct film.

Reports have also called Eszterhas' take "anti-woke" - a descriptor that immediately incites groans and eye-rolls, and if nothing else feels like a shameless attempt to court controversy.

Eszterhas hopes that Stone will return to reprise the lead role of serial killer Catherine Tramell, but honestly is there really enough fandom for the original film to make a legacy sequel worth it?
