10 Upcoming Movies That Are Already Doomed

Pixar

Elio is the latest film from Pixar - a sci-fi adventure revolving around the titular 11-year-old boy (Yonas Kibreab) who is mistaken for Earth's ambassador by a community of aliens.

Though Pixar was once upon a time a bulletproof banger factory, in recent years their critical and commercial performance has been decidedly less consistent, and Elio has reportedly had quite the tricky journey to the big screen.

Sources indicate that the animated comedy was delayed from March 2024 to this coming June due to concerns internally, with substantial portions of the film being reworked, which tracks given that the vibes of the initial teaser trailer and newer full trailer are totally different.

Furthermore, last summer it was announced that original director Adrian Molina was being replaced by Madeline Sharafian and Domee Shi, while Zoe SaldaƱa was replacing America Ferrera in the role of Elio's aunt.

And then there's the fact that the budget is said to have skyrocketed to $300 million - an entire $100 million more than Inside Out 2 and a tough figure for an original IP to make a profit on.

Between all this and the new trailer suggesting that the film's tone has been made broader and more upbeat, this feels like a repeat of The Good Dinosaur situation, where a troubled production leads to a film that misses the mark with critics and audiences. It'd be great to be wrong, though.
