10 Upcoming Movies That Are Already Doomed
8. The Batman Part II
Matt Reeves' The Batman was a strong critical and commercial success when it released in March 2022, and so a sequel was speedily given the greenlight for a planned 2025 release.
However, The Batman Part II has been subject to two substantial delays, pushing it back to 2026 and then to October 1, 2027.
This has reportedly been a result of Reeves taking the time to perfect the script. Additionally, as of early May, a Production Weekly posting lists Reeves as only the writer and not director, suggesting that he may be stepping back from shooting the film, in turn requiring James Gunn and co. to seek out a replacement.
If the October 2027 release date sticks, that'll be close to six years between Batman movies - not too far off the seven years and one month that covered the entire span of Christopher Nolan's Dark Knight Trilogy.
Naturally fans are growing impatient at the wait, not to ignore the fact that Robert Pattinson - who was cast to be a young, scrappy take on Bruce Wayne - will turn 40 next year.
None of this means The Batman Part II will be bad, but given Warner Bros.' clear desire to introduce another Batman into their fledgling DCU, we could end up with a messy situation where already-impatient audiences are awkwardly pulled between two competing iterations of the Dark Knight.
