10 Upcoming Movies That Are Already Doomed
6. The Conjuring: Last Rites
Though the first two Conjuring movies were both critically and commercially successful, the wheels clearly began to come off the enterprise with 2021's The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It.
While still making bank, it was the first of the three films to suffer a mediocre reception from critics and fans of the franchise, many lamenting that James Wan didn't return to direct it, being subbed out instead for Michael Chaves, who previously helmed the forgettable Conjuring spin-off The Curse of La Llorona.
With the fourth mainline film, The Conjuring: Last Rites, being marketed as the finale to the core franchise, then, many fans hoped that Wan would come back to direct and give it a fitting send-off.
Sadly though, Chaves is back in the director's chair once again, making it overwhelmingly likely that this is yet another disappointingly pedestrian installment and an ultimately lackluster way to close the series out.
There's no chance of it flopping at the box office, but given the highs of the first two Conjuring movies, it seems destined to end its run on a shoulder shrug.
