10 Upcoming Movies That Are Already Doomed
1. Blade
Mahershala Ali was first announced to be playing the Marvel Cinematic Universe's version of Blade back at San Diego Comic-Con 2019, and almost four and a half years later, the movie still hasn't started shooting.
The developmental process has been plagued by a swath of issues, with original director Bassam Tariq quitting due to scheduling and creative differences, while the script has passed through the hands of at least five writers.
A damning recent Variety report indicated serious behind-the-scenes issues with nailing down a script, enough that Ali was prepared to walk away until Kevin Feige decided to bring Logan writer Michael Green aboard.
Though the news that Blade will reportedly cost "only" $100 million - making it by far the cheapest MCU movie to date - might suggest a welcome departure from the franchise's irresponsibly-budgeted fare in recent times, it may also just suggest that Disney doesn't have that much faith in Blade and wants to mitigate their financial exposure.
As perfect a casting choice as Ali is, if the film actually turns out well when it (allegedly) releases on November 7, 2025, it'll be a huge surprise.
