This one would be a shame to see bomb, but considering the lack of success seen by director Denis Villeneuve's previous big budget sci-fi outing based on a popular pre-existing property Blade Runner 2049, we could be in for a sad repeat for a quality film.
While the actual quality of the Dune remake remains to be seen, considering the huge talent both in terms of production team and cast, it's likely this will be a true spectacle.
But with talent and spectacle comes a price, and much like the price tag attached to Blade Runner 2049, it could be a difficult sell. The original Dune is notorious for its bizarre quality, and while it's a sci-fi epic long desired to be seen done right, so was a beautiful sequel to Blade Runner, and look how that turned out.
This is the one that's perhaps the most difficult to predict, but there's potential for it to turn sour. Here's hoping not.
