10 Upcoming Movies That Have Already Ignored Massive Mistakes
8. Team-Ups Don't Always Work - Universal Monsters
The Lesson: The League Of Extraordinary Gentlemen Having a massive group of compelling literary characters no more guarantees you a movie success than pulling together every single action star from the 1980s and '90s (no matter how old and inappropriate). Yes, people will buy into the gimmick and you'll sell some tickets on the back of that, but inevitably returns will dwindle with each sequel, and the experience is never as good as the idea. Unfortunately, Universal have seen the success of the MCU and the trend being picked up by DC and Fox in their own united universes, and are now bringing together their famous rogues gallery of monsters. But we've seen this before: The League Of Extraordinary Gentlemen took beloved characters and messed up the mix, so choice ingredients became tasteless gruel. There is literally no reason to reinvent the Universal Monsters world, as well-made individual movies would have been far better.
