10 Upcoming Movies That Have Made Terrible Mistakes Already

1. Leaving Out Key Characters - Mulan

Becky Simon Pegg Kevin James

Mulan is the second Disney remake to make the cut here, though their mistake is more glaring than The Little Mermaid’s. Also, while not casting Ginger Minj feels like a missed opportunity, it likely won’t damage the film as much as Mulan’s; especially if Melissa McCarthy does indeed get the part.

Mulan aren’t just potentially giving the role to the wrong person though; they’ve left out a huge role entirely. In fact, they seem to like this idea so much that they’ve done it twice.

Neither General Shang nor Mushu will be in the upcoming movie, both of which seem strange for different reasons. General Shang was a huge part of the original, forming Mulan’s love interest. It appears he’s been replaced by a new character called Chen Honghui, who’ll be a fellow recruit as opposed to a General.

There’s been no word on why he’s been replaced, although it might be a bit of kid gloves around a woman dating a man who’s her immediate superior.

As for Mushu, there seems to be no replacement. He perhaps doesn’t fit in with a realistic depiction, but he’s a massive part of the movie and it’s hard to imagine it without him.
