The Film

The film that bagged Denzel Washington the Best Actor gong at the Oscars, director Antoine Fuqua delivered an unflinching look at police corruption and morality in this tale of Ethan Hawke’s rookie cop on his first day out with Washington’s veteran detective.

The TV Show

Migrating the action to TV, Justin Cornwell takes over from Hawke as the idealistic newbie who joins the ranks of Bill Paxton’s narcotics squad, packed full of aggressive crime-fighting and dubious morals. The show is currently scheduled for release in the US on the CBS network later in 2017.

Will It Work?

Let’s be honest, take Washington and Hawke out of the film, and what are you left with?

And while it seems there’s always room in the schedules for new cop shows, the morally suspect cop drama has been done before?

Is this really going to rival the likes of The Wire and Homicide: Life on the Streets?
