10 Upcoming Movies With Insane Concepts

8. Wendell And Wild

Keanu Key and Peele
Warner Bros.

Comedic duo Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele made a name for themselves off the back of their hilarious concept-driven skits, and this talent for providing viewers with a great hook is something they've also brought with them to the film world.

The concepts of Get Out and Keanu were both highly intriguing (even though the former turned out a lot better quality-wise), and their next feature, Wendell And Wild, looks to continue that trend.

It's a stop-motion animation developed by the team behind Nightmare Before Christmas and Coraline, and the gist is that Key and Peele will play a pair of demon brothers who escape the Underworld and suddenly find themselves on Earth, where they have to escape from a monster-hunting teenager called Kat.

The best thing about this whole project is that it's a Netflix release, a company that typically gives its filmmakers a lot of creative freedom - for better or worse. To that end, this won't be your run-of-the-mill supernatural drama, with Key and Peele likely to go full-on lunatic in bringing their stylized fantasy characters to life.

Danny has been with WhatCulture for over ten years, and is currently Doctor Who Editor and WhoCulture Channel Manager, overseeing all of WhatCulture's Whoniverse coverage. In 2022, he took charge of WhoCulture and has grown it into the biggest Doctor Who channel on YouTube, and one of the biggest Doctor Who communities on the web full-stop. He has been writing and video editing since his early teens, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers, off the back of a burning obsession with the Matt Smith era of the show. Like many his age, he first got into Doctor Who with the 2005 revival, but has since gone back and fallen in love with the classic years too. If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order, or to give you a random factoid about the making of Gridlock, Danny is the person to ask!
