10 Upcoming Remakes That Could Be Better Than The Original

6. Firestarter

Another Stephen King movie adaptation released in the 1980s that fell well short of the source material was Firestarter - sure, it might have done wonders for Drew Barrymore's career as a child actor off the back of E.T., but viewed objectively and it's an all-round terrible film. Shot with a TV movie-of-the-week aesthetic, the original Firestarter tells of a nine-year-old girl (Barrymore) with pyrokinetic powers on the run from government agents and using said power to turn her aggressors into human fireballs. Martin Sheen's fantastic haircut aside, there's really very little contained to warrant a recommendation. Which is why it could be ripe for a fresh take. The new film would be hard pushed to make the same mistakes as previous director Mark L. Lester. The internet has gone quiet on this remake for a while now, so it's up in the air as to when we can expect this in cinemas.

Andrew Dilks hasn't written a bio just yet, but if they had... it would appear here.
