10 Upcoming Remakes That Might Actually Be Great
2. Possession
Andrzej Żuławski's 1981 horror classic Possession is an absolutely unforgettable experience, and widely regarded as one of the greatest horror films of all time. To many fans, it's a film that simply shouldn't ever be remade, especially as Isabelle Adjani's central performance is so singularly mesmerising and basically impossible to top.
Though an Indonesian remake was quietly released earlier this year, it was also recently confirmed that a Hollywood remake is in the works from Smile director Parker Finn, with Robert Pattinson set to star.
Given the enormous skill that Finn has shown as a filmmaker on both Smile movies, and Pattinson's nose for sniffing out worthy arthouse projects, there's every possibility this thing really works, even if it'll never replace the original. Ultimately it'll probably come down to who Finn casts in the Adjani role this time, because it's easy to picture the likes of Mia Goth, Nell Tiger Free, and even Smile 2 star Naomi Scott knocking it out of the park.
Of all the announced horror remakes to be afraid of, Possession really shouldn't be one of them.
