10 "Upcoming" Sequels You Didn't Know Had Been Shelved
6. Tron 3
It's A Sequel To: Tron: Legacy (2010) When Disney first announced that they were making a sequel to Tron, everyone said the same thing: "What? Why?" Because Tron wasn't really the kind of movie that needed a sequel - especially since nobody had watched the film for about 20 years. Alas, Tron: Legacy arrived and was met with mixed reviews (Good: Olivia Wilde. Bad: The plot), whilst it's greatest purpose was later revealed as a means to test the specs of your new HD TV. Since then, Disney have been talking up the idea of Tron 3, which essentially provoked a collective response along the lines of: "Uh, okay. If you want." As of this month, though, Disney have decided to shelve the project indefinitely, with one executive saying: We had never greenlit the movie, but it was in development for some time, before adding: "We started to think, Where does it go?" Nowhere, apparently.
