10 "Upcoming" Sequels You Didn't Know Had Been Shelved
3. Sin City 3
It's A Sequel To: Sin City 2: A Dame To Kill For Robert Rodriguez's horrifically belated sequel, Sin City 2: A Dame To Kill For, came way too late to the party. Almost 10 years after the original Sin City proved an unmitigated success and super cultural phenomenon, traction for the series had noticeably lessened: to the point where the franchise wasn't really of interest to movie-goers any longer. It didn't help that the movie was downright terrible, either - a shallow, empty rehash of the original movie; ultra violent and ultra boring in equal measure. It ended up grossing a mere $39 million dollars on a budget of $65 million - a tragic knock for Rodriguez. So whilst Rodriguez was actually prepping the third movie in the months leading up to the release of the second, the trail has since gone cold. Basically, it ain't gonna happen: there is no information about the film anywhere, and it isn't even listed as having been "announced" on the Internet Movie Database - a tell tale sign that it has been awkwardly abandoned.
