9. After Earth
Release Date: June 7th
What It's Going To Fail: Um, it's an M. Night Shyamalan film? Though his films do consistently turn a profit - and this one, with Will Smith at the helm, probably will as well - the director hasn't made an even decent film since 2002's Signs, with every subsequent project succumbing to terrible acting and awful scripts that rely too much on barmy plot twists. It's clear that Shyamalan is going for the Avatar vibe here, except the $130m budget - much of which will surely go to Smith's salary - doesn't really seem to be enough to capture it. The visual effects look ropey, and the design of the post-apocalyptic Earth seems uninspired and derivative. Though the casting of Will Smith opposite his son Jaden will ensure there's good chemistry between the two, the incessant shoving of the younger Smith down our throats became tiresome a while ago.
