3. 300: Rise of an Empire
Release Date: August 2nd
Why It's Going To Fail: Didn't we all stop caring about another 300 movie a while ago? Sure, Zack Snyder's hyper-violent, ultra-stylish action flick was a lot of fun, but there's only
one 300 follow-up everyone wanted, and that was a sequel that depicted the battle we were teased with at the end of the first film. Instead we're getting a prequel to 300 that will explain Xerxes' (Rodrigo Santoro) rise to power, but frankly, does anyone really care about that? The 300 bubble has burst and this one just seems really uninspired; the lead, played by little-known actor Sullivan Stapleton, seems like a poor attempt to ape Gerard Butler, while director Noam Murro has only one notable feature to his name (Smart People), which was a dramedy rather than an action film. I strongly suspect this film is going to bomb both critically and commercially.
