10 Upcoming Superhero Movies Hollywood Needs To Stop Pretending Will Happen
2. Justice League Dark
When Guillermo Del Toro announces that he's going to make a film, audiences by now should know there's only a 50/50 chance of said film ever getting made. Still, that didn't stop comic-book fans from getting ahead of themselves when the director announced he was planning to make Justice League Dark back in 2012.
Moving into the next year, Del Toro revealed that the working title was Dark Universe (which shouldn't be confused with Universal's failed monster-movie cinematic franchise), but the director was lured away by other projects which, you know, looked like they could actually happen. That didn't stop him delivering a script, but with WB's focus being on getting the DCEU up and running at the time, there wasn't much of a place for the project in their plans.
The flick did resurface officially in 2016, with Del Toro no longer attached, and Doug Liman being brought on as a replacement. That didn't last long though, and by 2017 the project was in need of a new creative vision to guide it, now going by the official title of Justice League Dark.
We haven't heard anything since though, and considering how long plans for this have been in the pipeline, and how many filmmakers the project has rattled through, it doesn't seem like a priority for WB.
