10 Upcoming Superhero Movies Hollywood Needs To Stop Pretending Will Happen
8. Silver And Black
When it comes to announcing superhero movies and never actually following through on them, Sony are second only to DC. Before they loaned Spidey back to Marvel they had huge plans to create their own cinematic universe around the wall crawler, announcing the likes of Venom, Sinister Six and even an Aunt May movie.
Of course, The Amazing Spider-Man 2 bombed and they found themselves between a rock and a hard place, unable to continue with their ambitious plans. Since Homecoming revitalised the character, though, Sony have once again restarted their attempts to forge a universe, releasing Venom this year, dropping Aunt May and Sinister Six from their slate, and announcing the Black Cat and Silver Sable team-up flick, Silver and Black.
Helmed by director Gina Prince-Bythewood, the spinoff was initially given the release date of February 8th 2019 but has since been pulled from Sony's upcoming schedule. They're probably hedging their bets and ensuring that Venom is a hit this year before moving ahead with more spinoffs, but even then, Silver and Black is going to be such a hard sell anyway that it might never end up materialising.
