10 Upcoming Superhero Movies Hollywood Needs To Stop Pretending Will Happen

It's hard to think now, but Fox genuinely had ambitious plans for their rebooted Fantastic 4 series. Since that first movie tanked though, they've found success with experimenting with what superhero movies can be, with the hugely popular Deadpool and Logan etching out their own market away from the MCU and the DCEU.

Perhaps having their confidence renewed from those releases, the studio announced a standalone Doctor Doom movie back in 2017, headed up by Legion and Fargo writer Noah Hawley.

Apparently he was able to knock up a screenplay that the studio really liked, but the flick has since been put on hold, not only because Hawley himself is committed to directing another project, but also because the impending DC/Fox merger has thrown a load of the studio's projects up in the air.

Consequently, every superhero project at Fox is on shaky ground at the moment, and while some seem safer than others, Doctor Doom probably isn't going to received the same preferential treatment as Deadpool.
