10 Video Game Movies That Were Better Than You Think

7. Dead Or Alive

doa-dead-or-alive-original-doa-1110529973Budget: $21 millon Box Office: $7 million $21 million for this movie?! Apparently the producers thought they'd at least make their money back. I mean, look at the poster. They knew what their marketing angle was, even thought I'm sure some devout DOA fans couldn't accept Devon Aoki as Katsumi (the dimensions do not match up). Most of the movie posters feature the three women on this poster, with Jamie Pressley being one of the more known actresses. If they really wanted to draw some more people, they should have throw Eric Roberts up there. And Kevin Nash (yes, that Kevin Nash) as Bass Armstrong! Brilliant! The casting was not that bad; and the costumes, well they played into blantent sexism of the movie. At one point, some of the female characters start up a game of beach volleyball, for no reason other than to incorporate "scenes" from DOA: Beach Volleyball. If you take the movie for what it is, its worth a watch, but you really have to be one of those "bad movies are good movies" kind of person. The acting is subpar, the story is wild, and the fight scenes are entertaining to a degree. For this reason, and many others, this movie never came close to breaking even. DVD sales were around $1.5 million, so this one has to be chalked up as loss.
