10 Video Game Movies That Were Truly Terrible

7. Prince Of Persia: The Sands Of Time

Mortal Kombat Annihilation
Ubisoft

Jake Gyllenhaal, a big budget and washboard abs, this movie seemed to have it all. The film was not only a poorly received but it also seemed to instigate less live-action original films from Disney (the final nail in the coffin coming from John Carter).

While Prince of Persia: Sands of Time is not completely to blame for the end of live-action originals, the fact that it performed poorly amongst other live-action films seems to have cemented the position of Disney to rehash animated classics.

The film did manage to make a profit but to not the degree that Disney had hoped for and it seemed that the company wished that they also had access to the fabled sands of time to reverse the production of the film. The most significant problem with the film was the lack of character motivation alongside Gyllenhaal playing Dastan like an insecure teen. Despite the potential to be a success, this film did not manage to win over too many fans.

There doesn't seem to be a sequel to this video game adaptation and with the games laying dormant for a while it seems that Prince of Persia won't resurface any time soon. Although maybe when there's enough nostalgia, Disney will start animating live-action duds.
