10 Villainous Performances From Actors Who Also Played Jesus

8. Chris Sarandon - The Princess Bride

Christian Bale Jesus
CBS/Fox

Chris Sarandon is a brilliant chameleon of an actor, moving from pre-op trans character Leon in Dog Day Afternoon to suave vampire character Jerry Dandridge in Fright Night, so it should be no surprise that he was up for the role of Jesus in the TV movie The Day Christ Died.

Eschewing traditional portrayals of Jesus performing miracles or anything else overtly spiritual or supernatural, Sarandon played Jesus as a political and social figure over the last day of his life, and his portrayal is deeply human.

The same cannot be said for Prince Humperdinck, the rich and entitled jerk who is to marry The Princess Bride. A throwback to the classic swashbucklers, the film tells the story of a girl, her first love, and the massive dillweed who does every underhanded deed he can to keep them from getting together.

He even uses a magical life-draining device to try and kill her beloved, but in the end, true love triumphs and evil Prince Humperdinck is alone, as he should be.

Chris Vander Kaay knows the hidden secrets of the world, but he frequently forgets them. He has them written on a piece of paper along with his passwords, but he seems to have misplaced that as well.
