10 Villains Better For Ben Affleck’s Solo Batman Movie

8. The Penguin

The Penguin is pretty well-known in live-action circles, thanks to the original Batman series, and then Danny DeVito's turn in Batman Returns. Even now the character remains an entertaining and popular presence, thanks to Robin Taylor Lord's take on Oswald Cobblepot being the best thing about TV series Gotham. And there's a reason the character endures, and why he's ready to be adapted for another film. He's not only one of the greatest Batman rogues, but a rather flexible one too, whether he's a somewhat legit businessmen or complete whacko, and someone easily defeated by Bats in a fight, or capable of going toe-to-toe.

What remains consistent is his intelligence and ruthless ambition, a drive to exist right at the very top and a steadfast refusal to allow anyone to stand in his way. That means there's plenty of options for Affleck's movie to choose from, and craft a different take on a familiar character. Having Penguin be the guy running the show in Gotham, with various criminals working under him, would present Batman with numerable challenges, and you could go for a physically imposing take to fight Bats directly, or more of a behind-the-scenes mastermind.
