It would be amazing to see the tragic story of Victor and Nora Fries translated into a much darker and more grounded Batman film, the results would akin to those of The Dark Knight Trilogy.

As mentioned before in this article, empathetic villains are often the best and showing a man willing to do anything for the love of his life, even kill or die himself (as seen brilliantly shown in the aforementioned Harley Quinn series) would make Batman find it hard to be against Victor and would produce a heartfelt story that would undoubtedly make many audience members shed a tear.

Look no further than Mr. Freeze in The Batman Animated Series for evidence of this. Recently, in Sean Murphy’s White Knight universe, Mr. Freeze was revealed to have Nazi ancestry, this could prove a very interesting addition to a Batman film if used.

In the '90s, Arnold Schwarzenegger was everyone’s favourite Austrian, and let's be honest, he probably still is. So let's stick with the trend of hiring an Austrian to play Freeze and cast Christoph Waltz, surely Hollywood’s second favourite Austrian.

Waltz was undoubtedly typecast as several cunning villains after he was discovered through his fantastic performance as Hans Landa in Inglorious Basterds.

After Tarantino’s film all of his parts didn’t really have the same depth and menace as Landa. Even after playing the infamous Blofeld in Spectre, his popularity never reached the same heights as it did when he was first shown in American cinemas.

Playing Mr. Freeze would definitely change that; his dulcet Germanic tones would sit perfectly as the sub zero villain who is already well known to many moviegoers and both will become all the more popular after his certain Oscar worthy performance.
