10 Villains That Affleck’s Batman Should Fight Instead Of The Joker
7. Phantasm
Born out of the incredible animated film Mask Of The Phantasm, the titular antagonist has rarely appeared since but her initial arc left a big mark. Andrea Beaumont was Bruce Waynes college sweetheart, the one who almost got him to walk away from the path that would eventually lead to him becoming Batman. That was until she had to flee the country with her criminal father. Years later, in the wake of her fathers murder, she returned to Gotham in the guise of the Phantasm, bent on taking revenge against the gangsters who had her father assassinated, all the while rekindling her love affair. Batman has a tight relationship with the Joker but it doesn't even come close to his deeply personal bond with Andrea. She offers a connection to the hero that Joker couldn't dream of competing with, and that makes her presence as a villain so much harder for him to deal with. The only problem is that short of drastically altering her character, the story concerning her appearance is already fairly detailed and wouldnt give us much creative freedom. That said, would there really be any complaints if Ben Afflecks debut Batman film was an expanded, live-action version of Mask Of The Phantasm?
