10 Villains That Affleck’s Batman Should Fight Instead Of The Joker

6. Black Mask

One thing Christopher Nolan€™s Batman films did incredibly well was the way they handled organized crime. It always felt like a force in the background and made Gotham feel like the corrupt city it was meant to be. Affleck may want to shy away from covering this same territory but what€™s Gotham City without some notable gangsters? Black Mask is a huge underworld figure and could represent that facet of crime, while still boasting enough resources and panache to act as a primary antagonist. Cut from the same cloth as Bruce Wayne, Roman Sionis turned to crime after driving his father€™s cosmetic company into the ground. Concealing his identity with a mask made from his father's coffin, he found far more success as a criminal and almost immediately amassed a loyal following. Mask isn€™t as flashy as the Joker but he represents a crucial criminal element in Gotham City that needs to be included. He gives the city character and his presence makes it feel lived in. Affleck needn€™t adhere to Nolan€™s strict realism rules, but he would still do well to feature at least one antagonist who isn€™t a complete cartoon.
