8. I Am Legend
2007’s I Am Legend sees Dr Robert Neville (Will Smith) work his way around an isolated New York with his dog, Sam, as the only survivors of a virus that has turned humanity into vicious, flesh-eating monsters (not to be confused with zombies.) This occurs after a potential cure for cancer evolves into a deadly pandemic, infecting 99% of the world’s population and condemning them to this fate.
Robert is one of the 1% who are immune to this virus and has spent the past 3 years trying to develop a cure. His days are spent wondering the streets with Sam in a hunt for food and basic supplies, while his nights are spent in his locked down fortress of a home, hiding from the infected.
What this movie teaches us is how best to live completely alone when the rest have succumbed to the apocalypse. Fortify your home, stock up on non-perishable food, perhaps plant a few remote-access, high-powered explosives underneath any cars nearby. Simple stuff, really.
