10 Viral Outbreak Movies To Watch While In Quarantine

Reboots of films can be really hit and miss quality-wise. Thankfully 2010’s reboot of 1973’s The Crazies is one of the better ones.

After an aeroplane crash causes a chemical spill in a small Iowa town, the residents start acting violent, erratic, some might say- crazy. The first instance of this is seen at a local baseball game, when a resident strolls onto the pitch brandishing a shotgun. He fails to respond to police instructions and is quickly gunned down.

Soon after this, we see a farmer burning his house down with his family locked inside. Needless to say, this isn’t normal behaviour that’s being exhibited. The local cops, David and Russell, soon discover the plane crash site being scavenged by government agents in hazmat suits.

This all leads into a thrilling journey which sees David and his wife, Judy, along with Russell and a healthcare worker named Becca attempt to escape the town and its chemically-infected, psychotic residents. This is made all the more difficult by a rather strict lockdown of the area, imposed by the military.

There’s not a lot to take lesson-wise from this film, other than you can rest assured that if a virus gets too out of hand, the government will take no issue with annihilating you and your local community. Sweet dreams.
