10 War Films That Were Basically Just Propaganda

8. Left Behind

The Green Berets John Wayne

Ok, this one might be a bit of a stretch. But, if you’re patiently awaiting the Battle of Megiddo then Left Behind is the war film for you.

This 2014 film is an adaptation of the popular 1995 novel of the same name. The original novel kicked off a very popular book series. The Left Behind series tracks the events happening in the aftermath of the rapture. These events include the war to end all wars - Armageddon.

For a film steeped in Christian religiosity, you’d expect a core theme to be one of forgiveness or love. What makes Left Behind propaganda is that its core message is one of fear: don’t believe in God because you want to do justice and love mercy. No way! You better fear God or your ass is getting... Left Behind!

...With Nic Cage. So, not all bad?
