10 Ways 2016's Superhero Movies Will Leave Fanboys Massively Disappointed

7. Jared Leto's Joker Will Fail To Top What's Come Before

Love or hate the controversial new look of Jared Leto's Joker, there's no denying the fact that Suicide Squad is taking the character in a very interesting new direction. However, if what Marvel did with The Mandarin in Iron Man 3 proves anything, it's that a large majority of fans don't respond well to changes as major as this, hence why some have already written off the DC Extended Universe's take on The Joker as a failure. That is of course extremely unfair, and I for one think Jared Leto is going to steal the show. However, that doesn't necessarily mean what we end up getting is a particularly good representation of the Clown Prince of Crime's comic book counterpart, and the fact that so many liberties have been taken with the character inevitably means that a lot of people are going to be left disappointed by this new interpretation. Of course, Heath Ledger's Joker wasn't exactly comic book faithful, but his performance was so strong that many were able to forgive that. That could be the case in Suicide Squad, but Ledger poses another problem for Leto and Warner Bros. The actor isn't going to be able to escape comparisons to that Oscar winning portrayal, and that alone is going to make this take on The Joker a failure in the eyes of some.
