10 Ways 2016's Superhero Movies Will Leave Fanboys Massively Disappointed
6. Apocalypse Will Be Great For All The Wrong Reasons
Oscar Isaac is an amazing actor, and if nothing else, we can be sure that he'll be a highlight of X-Men: Apocalypse. Well, probably. Most of us thought that would be the case with Peter Dinklage's Bolivar Trask in X-Men: Days Of Future Past, and he ended up being the movie's most poorly written character, the actor failing to make anywhere near the same impact he does on a weekly basis in Game Of Thrones. With so many new characters being introduced in X-Men: Apocalypse and the focus still very much on Erik and Charles, there's a very good chance that the titular villain won't end up with anywhere near enough screentime. However, the much greater concern is the fact that even if Isaac does steal the show with an amazing performance, this isn't the Apocalypse fans have been waiting years to see. That's apparent from his very different appearance (which has inevitably been widely ridiculed since that Entertainment Weekly cover was first released), and Bryan Singer's habit of taking massive liberties with the source material is definitely worrisome. Throw in the fact that the guy who was partly responsible for f***ing up Doctor Doom - Simon Kinberg - is heavily involved here, and Apocalypse being a let down actually feels like a guarantee at this stage.
