10 Ways Avengers: Secret Wars Could Change The MCU Forever

6. Another Time Jump

Avengers: Endgame featured a lot of twists and turns along the way, but arguably one of the most surprising scenes was the title card that simply read ‘five years later’. This was a big gap between Thanos snapping his fingers and Tony Stark snapping his.

The end of the Multiverse Saga could potentially employ a similar tactic in that a time jump may be necessary to truly portray Battleworld as a real threat to life. Like with Thanos, the Avengers lost for five whole years, it gives the fight a lot more gravity to the situation than if they were to have been successful on the Garden just 23 days later.

In the source material, the time between the final incursion that destroys the multiverse and the events of the story itself is eight years. This would establish the ruler of Battleworld, whether the franchise goes with Kang or Doom, as a true threat.

Hopefully, this won’t be the case. The MCU timeline is already confusing enough as it is without adding another time jump into the mix. Then there is the fact that this gap wouldn’t result in some heroes returning as their same ages. Spider-Man could be in his 30s, Ant-Man in theory would be pushing 60, and none of the potential Young Avengers would actually be that young anymore.
