The end of the Infinity Saga was more than just the end of the first overarching story told throughout the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It was the end of an era in terms of Thanos’ quest, but also in terms of the scope of heroes.

While Infinity War saw the deaths of Loki, Gamora, and Vision, Avengers: Endgame upped that ante with both Tony Stark and Natasha Romanoff taking their final breaths, as well as the disappearance of Steve Rogers. There is no reason to think that the end of the Multiverse Saga won’t shake things up in a similar way in 2024.

As with the end of Phase Three, there will be individual stories coming to a close, actors’ contracts running out, the need for high stakes and emotional moments in the movie, and a need to clear a path for new blood to come in in Phase Seven. Add in the fact that entire universes will be destroyed, there’s almost bound to be some main character casualties.

Among the main candidates will be Doctor Strange, depending on how closely the source material is followed, surviving original Avengers like Thor and Hulk, and maybe even a Guardian of the Galaxy or two.
