10 Ways Captain America: Civil War Could Be A Disaster

5. Too Much Set Up For Phase 3

With Civil War, Marvel is temporarily moving on from the likes of their stars Captain America and Iron Man. Their next slate of movies features a lot of new faces and the burden is falling to new characters to draw audiences in. As the first film of Phase 3, it€™s very much Civil War€™s responsibility to set the stage for all of these upcoming films. Much in the way The Winter Soldier€™s destruction of SHIELD overhauled the MCU landscape, it€™s a safe bet that something similar will happen here. Likewise, the introduction of new heroes, as well as the appearances of recently-introduced characters like Ant-Man, Vision, and Scarlet Witch will help develop the future faces of Marvel. The concern is, with all of these factors present, can Civil War still execute a complete and satisfying film when it has so many other tasks to complete? Marvel can sometimes become too preoccupied with setting up the future that they lose sight of the present, look no further than Iron Man 2 for proof of that. If that were to transpire again, Civil War could be looked upon as a forgotten film amongst the successes of its eventual successors in the MCU.
