4. Nobody Dies
If the film really does represent a war, then there needs to be some casualties. The comics accomplished this early on with the explosion in Stamford and the killing of superhero Goliath, letting readers know that there were serious stakes involved in this fight. If the film wants to be taken seriously, it needs to pull off something similar. The trailers certainly make things look rough for War Machine, so maybe hell be the one to die and escalate the conflict. Or maybe its just a red herring for something much grander. Readers of the comic will know that the aftermath of Civil War features a significant death and many have been wondering if that will play out on screen. Marvel has never really done well with killing characters and leaving them dead, which is fitting considering their history with comics. This creates a troubling dilemma however, if they ever want to try and make a death stick. If they want Civil War to have that emotional punch and impactful resonance, theyre going to need to bite the bullet on this one or risk jeopardizing the entire films credibility.
