10 Ways Captain America: Civil War Could Be A Disaster
3. If It's Too Easy To Side With Cap
One of the biggest flaws in the comic this film is inspired by is that the ideological conflict is decidedly one-sided. Despite the tagline of whose side are you on? its clear that Captain America is the protagonist and Iron Man is the antagonist. Considering this is Captain America's film, it's not hard to imagine that playing out again on screen. Whats more troubling is that Iron Man arguably has more ground to stand on. In the films case, is it really so much to ask for these super-powered vigilantes to agree to some oversight? Apparently the answer is yes, but Tonys case isnt that hard to agree with, which could make his inability to turn the audience to his side all the more problematic. It is imperative that the film present Iron Man with a compelling case for why he is right. We need to spend time with him and see some of the movie through his eyes, or else the philosophical debate will not feel like a debate at all. If the conflict is too one-sided, Civil War could risk losing the thematic crux of the film, and diminishing the entire plot.
