Earlier this year there was talk of a Red Son film getting the green light at WB, but things have been relatively quiet on the Eastern Front since. That could be set to change, however, with the introduction of this Joker prequel, as well as the prospect of a Flashpoint film nearing in the future.
While the choice to adapt Mark Millar's Elseworlds' classic might seem a tad unconventional, or even bizarre, it was an instant hit when it first released a decade ago. Talk of an animated feature stalled a few years back, and, with the multiverse potentially opening up all manner of different possibilities for the DCEU going forward, a Red Son film doesn't just become viable, it becomes exciting.
Anyone who's read the comic will tell you that it's pretty 'out there', but it's just the jolt WB's universe needs to really set it apart from the MCU.
