10 Ways The DCEU Films Nearly Turned Out Completely Different

5. Metallo Was The Main Villain For Proposed Man Of Steel 2

Before Zack Snyder decided to make Batman v Superman, the follow-up of Man of Steel was going to be very different. Originally, the villain would've been John Corben.

In the comics, Corben was a journalist who was killed during a scientific experiment. However, he was resurrected when his mind was transferred to a cybernetic body fuelled by Kryptonite. When he turned to a life of crime, he became known as Metallo, The Man with the Kryptonite Heart.

When Snyder decided to incorporate Batman and Wonder Woman into the film, he was still set on Metallo playing a part of the story. The cybernetic supervillain was meant to be created from the remains of Wallace Keefe; the paraplegic who was blown up during the Congressional hearing.

Even though this plot was abandoned, Metallo's creator, Emmet Vale, does appear in the movie.

It's a pity Metallo was discarded since he's a really interesting character. Because he is powered by the one thing Superman is weak to, it would've been cool to see the Last Son of Krypton rely on his wits rather than brute strength to defeat his foe.
