10 Ways The DCEU Will Change Without Zack Snyder

1. The End Of The Personal Mother Arc

Despite the fact that the DCEU is a giant, sprawling monster of a narrative, taking in Gods, monsters and horror stories, it has fundamentally been driven by a very personal thing for Snyder: his mother. Or more specifically, how he dealt with her death.

Man Of Steel and Batman v Superman are both shaped by grief and emotional abandonment, and the mother issues come far more into focus in the second. That's why the whole "Martha" element is in there: a melodramatic, silly thing for most, but a deeply personal expression of pain and love for Snyder.

Even Justice League is focused on seeking out Mother Boxes...

In short, without Snyder, this personal element will disappear, and so too should the trauma that hangs around it. And while it was an intriguing expression of his own creativity and his state of mind as a creator, it might not be so bad to have a shared universe free of personal shackles.
