10 Ways to Make an Awesome Terminator Sequel

4. Keep Arnold Schwarzenegger Away

OK, so this choice is somewhat against my original mission statement in working out what made the first two films as great as they were and the last two not so stellar because Arnie was a big part of what made the first two so memorable. But Arnold Schwarzenegger is too old for this franchise now, and any attempt to try to cover up his wrinkles in CGI is going to be too distracting.

Arnold Schwarzenegger also isn't that somewhat charming Austrian man from the 80's anymore... he is now that dumb Californian Republican governor who fathers mysterious illegitimate love children with his maid and writes tell all autobiographies. Arnold Schwarzenegger, despite said to be making an acting comeback in the next few years in roles such as Conan, and is said to be extremely interested in being in Terminator 5, is now too much of a parody of himself and comes with way too much baggage.

Plus, as much as I was looking forward to his "cameo" in Terminator: Salvation, that particular part of the movie was arguably the worst part, and could have easily done without it. It just made the whole movie seem tacky and cheesy. I think the franchise could very easily and very successfully live without Arnold Schwarzenegger... and personally I would prefer they keep any super muscled men out of any future roles as the Terminators. Robert Patrick was just as good a Terminator as Arnie was, and a much better actor to boot.

The only way I would be on board with Arnie returning to the franchise would be in a brief scene at the beginning of the film where John Connor witnesses Arnie being sent back by the machines to kill his mother.
