9. Putting Characterisation In The Back Seat
While this announcement is incredibly exciting without question, one can't help but worry that Warner Bros. is being blinded by dollar signs rather than thinking about how they will be able to retain the integrity of their characters moving forward. Christopher Nolan's Batman films are the zenith of the genre; Bruce Wayne is characterised far stronger than any other comic book character, and the worry is that in striving so hard for an interconnected universe, we may lose all the good work that Nolan did with the character. Favouring the narrative over the people involved in it will make for a disappointing film, so hopefully Snyder, who did an admirable job melding whizz-bang set-pieces with firm characterisation in Man of Steel, will follow along a similar bent, even if his mission will be markedly more challenging this time.
