9. Anakin and Padme - The Star Wars Prequels
Anakin and Padme's romance across the three diabolical Star Wars prequels is basically an episode of The OC set in space, just with lightsabres. Not a good thing. It's no secret Hayden Christensen is about as wooden as a rocking horse, but Natalie Portman's apparent refusal to emote is just as responsible for the heinous crime that is this vomit-inducing and nauseating romance. "Hold me, like you did on that lake by Naboo." is just one of those lines that causes you to assume the brace position because you know it's going to be a bumpy ride. There's cliche after cliche, and George Lucas makes the romance the focus point of the trilogy, which in a world of lightsabres, spaceships and Yoda is one of the most foolish decisions in the history of cinema. The couple create nothing but weirdness, and it's genuinely more interesting to watch the landscape in the background than these two attempt to talk with each other without a member of the audience recoiling in horror. Poor Hayden's attempts to be brooding and mysterious sank the believability of the romance and with that the franchise.
