8. Robert Langdon and Sophie Neveu - The Da Vinci Code
Possibly the weirdest screen-pairing of the lot, Tom Hanks, best known for Forrest Gump and Saving Private Ryan and Audrey Tautou, best known at the time for Amelie are a match made in Hell. Tautou appears to have been cast primarily because she speaks French, as she's incredibly miscast here. She's young and attractive, and tries to do the best with what she's given (which is basically nothing), but every second her and Langdon interact, it's impossible not to grimace. Tom Hanks and his dreadful hair lurks across the screen, explicitly detailing every single thing in sight, boring everyone to death, everyone apart from Sophie anyway. By the end of the 149 minute bore-fest, he eventually wore her down and she agreed to go to Florence with him, making their back and forth exchanges throughout the film that more painful. He's old enough to be her father, and Tautou's youthful appearance makes it look even weirder. It's a romance guaranteed to end by one of them signing some sort of register.
