10 Weird Things Left Out Of Comic Book Movies

3. Daredevil Plays Russian Roulette With Bullseye

Mark Steven Johnson probably knew he wasn't going to get to make a second Daredevil film. And not just because the studio cut out all the stuff with Coolio. So he decided to make the most of this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity by cramming in as many plotlines from the comics as possible, going from the origin story originally told in the character's first appearance (and later expounded on by the Man Without Fear miniseries, where all the stuff about his boxing dad came from), through to a handful of Kingpin-related arcs, and then the iconic storyline by Frank Miller.

Miller was probably the single best Daredevil writer/artist in the title's history, with his crowning achievement being the issues which introduced the ninja assassin Elektra, on-off lover of Matt Murdock, as well as bringing her death at the psychotic hitman Bullseye. They recreated the image of the sai through her chest for the film and everything. After witnessing Bullseye murder his girlf the blind superhero tosses him off the roof of the symbolic church they were fighting on, because symbolism. That's pretty much what happens in the comic, too, only the film then follows on to Daredevil figuring out the Kingpin hired Bullseye, and getting his revenge.

Which is probably a more cinematic climax than the final issue of Millar's run, where Murdock sneaks into the villain's hospital room and plays Russian roulette with the comatose Bullseye, ruminating on a bunch of suicidal thoughts whilst threatening to stick a bullet in an (admittedly evil) dude who can't defend himself. It's pretty messed up and incredibly dark, even for a Frank Miller joint, and you can see why Fox maybe wanted to keep that out of a potential summer blockbuster. We don't see that happening between Optimus Prime and Megatron in Transformers 5.
