From the team behind Ring comes Audition, another one-word horror movie that will leave you twice as terrified and about 100 times more likely to vomit.

Shigehiko Aoyama (Tetsu Sawaki) decides that he's had enough of his father moping around after the death of his mother and sets off to find him a new wife. Already, this is getting strange.

He holds some auditions for the new lady in his pop's life, which is where he meets Asami Yamazaki (Eihi Shiina). This new lady gets on perfectly with his dear old dad and everyone's problems have been solved. Except they haven't. They really haven't.

As it turns out, Asami is a monster. A trail of death, destruction, and dismemberment follows her wherever she goes, and now it has come for Shigehiko's dad. Talk about a slip up.

Audition has the rare accolade of being called feminist and misogynistic in equal measure. Some critics praised the torture scenes as Asami getting payback against the men in her life, whilst others noted that her desire for male love undermines her position as an independent woman.

Which one is true? Watch it for yourself and find out.
